The purpose of the Open Door Prison Ministry (ODPM) is to encourage, equip and assist prisoners, ex-offenders and their families to grow toward greater godliness and commitment to Jesus Christ and His church. The ODPM visits Federal, State and County institutions in Illinois, encouraging men, women and youth who have become incarcerated. In fulfilling this purpose, we help to promote lifelong spiritual growth and family unity.

In certain facilities, we are able to minister cell by cell to the inmates. We also host evangelistic services and life-skills seminars. We have devised our own news letter “Just Released” to be a communication tool to get the word out to more churches and volunteers who may need our support. ODPM provides gifts and toys to over 100 children of inmates during the Christmas season along with mailing greeting cards both at Christmas and Easter time to the inmates. Each year we adopt a prison to provide with tangible items like socks, toothpaste, soap, deodorant and candy in order to share the love of Christ.

How to become a member :
One must be a good standing member of AFC and have taken all the core curriculum courses, along with the prison ministry volunteer training seminar. We also require a one on one meeting with individuals and team leaders.
