"...for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me."

(Matthew 25:35-36)

You don’t have to be a pastor or a minister to get involved. All you need to be is willing. You can:

Visit senior citizens in near-by nursing homes

Distribute food to local shelters

Conduct worship services at Chicago prisons

Give life by donating at one of our blood drives

Collect toys, clothing and books for children whose parents are incarcerated.

Join Bishop and Sister Smith on one of their service trips to countries like Zambia, Africa

Help the culinary staff make Sunday dinner

Pick up a prayer list from the office and pray for those in need

AFC builds and maintains relationships in the local and global community ranging from Wendell Phillips High School in our own Bronzeville neighborhood to international programs like World Vision. You can find a complete list of our community partnerships in the Resource Center.

Simply call the Volunteer Ministry (W.O.R.K.S.) to talk with someone about the best way to apply your talents and interests to service.
